Perez Roque Thanks Russia for Support of the Cuban Five
HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 11 (acn) Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez thanked Moscow on Tuesday for a recent declaration passed by the Russian Duma (Parliament) demanding the release of five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who remain unjustly imprisoned in the United States.“We appreciate the solidarity of the Russian people and particularly the declaration approved by the Duma regarding this injustice against the Five,” Perez Roque told Prensa Latina news agency.He added that it is an expression of the feelings of justice and friendship that millions of Russians have towards Cuba.Perez Roque also urged everyone to continue fighting for the release of Rene Gonzalez, Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino, Fernando Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero – internationally known as the Cuban Five – who were arrested in 1998 for infiltrating anti-Cuba extremist organizations in South Florida that were planning and carrying out terrorist actions against the Caribbean nation.
