Cuba casi duplica su estimación de pérdidas por dos huracanes

Cuba considera que los huracanes Ike y Gustav, que azotaron la isla entre el 30 de agosto y el 9 de setiembre, dejaron pérdidas por $us 9.350 millones, casi el doble de la estimación inicial, según un reporte de la televisión estatal de ayer.Según ese medio, Ramón Pardo Guerra, jefe de la Defensa Civil, explicó el viernes al presidente de Brasil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, durante una visita relámpago a Cuba, que las pérdidas equivalían a $us 9.350 millones. La estimación oficial era de $us 5.000 millones. El ministro de Economía de Cuba, José Luis Rodríguez, considera que 2008 será un año de "crecimiento económico" para la isla, a pesar de las pérdidas causadas por el paso de esos huracanes.
